TVU School of Foreign Languages (SFL) welcomes five international lecturers from the U.S, South Korea and Taiwan to undertake their teaching duties in academic year 2017 - 2018. This is a part of international co-operation projects initiated by Tra Vinh University, School of Foreign Languages and  globally recognized education institutions. 

Annually, SFL hosts qualified language teachers from the United States, France, Taiwan and Korea to engage English majors in culturally diverse learning environment at the School. 

Dean of the School, Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Nam, said: “These organizations have a long-term cooperation with TVU as well as SFL. We would like to express appreciation to these lecturers for being willing to take part in our training missions at TVU. They all possess energetic styles and practical experience in teaching languages. Therefore, we firmly believe that TVU English majors will develop their language as well as intercultural communication skills while working with our newly appointed staff.” 

Indeed, this is the third year that American lecturers from Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) and Teachers for Vietnam (TfV) has joined and involved in academic activities at TVU SFL.  

In this academic year, Ms. Jessica Obi and Ms. Sachi Watase from America will be primarily responsible for English Listening and Speaking skills for English majors. Ms. Jessica Obi obtained her master’s degree from the University of Washington. She has worked for the Asian University for Women in the position of a teacher of English. Ms. Sachi Watase earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of California and has experience in teaching  language and literacy skills for pre-school children in California.

For Korean courses, Mr. Chung Woong Hee from Inha University is on his second teaching experience in Vietnam as part of bilateral cooperation project on visiting scholars between Inha University and SFL. Mr. Chung Woong Hee graduated from Inha University in History. He will  be in charge of  Korean courses.  

As for Chinese language courses, Ms. Lu Min-jung and Ms. Wu Meng-Ying from  the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office will engage in teaching Chinese language as an additional  language for the English majors. Additionally, they directly instruct Chinese short courses at  elementary level  in extracurricular programs offered by SFL.
