TVU – October 5 2015. The TVU School of Foreign Languages (SFL) has its largest freshman class since 2006. The academic year 2015-16 freshman class has 152 full-time students, a 58 percent increase from last year.

The academic quality of the freshman class this year is strong with a high school graduation score of 16 or higher, many of them have scores well above the national average.

"The freshmen’s academic quality and overall enrollment increase testify to the success of our efforts to increase access to affordable academic programs,” said TVU Rector Pham Tiet Khanh in his Opening Day address on October 2, 2015 in Campus One. "This is quite impressive in today’s competitive recruiting environment.”

Currently, the SFL enrolls more than 445 full-time English majors. There are over 9,000 evening and weekend students, which include English diploma holders transferring to an English degree, degree holders in other disciplines working toward a second degree in English, and students of different disciplines within the University undertaking English classes to meet the English graduation requirement.

The year 2015 also witnesses the creation of the Department of French within the School, thus effectively added French and Mandarin as second foreign languages to English majors.

The School is headed by internationally recognized faculty, and has brought together experienced and dedicated lecturers, including native speakers, to provide students with a solid grounding in humanities and the real-world English programs.

It is perhaps for this reason that the School has concluded a very successful season in enrollments for the 2015-16 academic year.
