TVU – On 21 Feb 2016, a group of 30 teen students enrolled in the English Access Microscholarship Program (Access) have enjoined a one-day English speaking field trip organized by TVU School of Foreign Languages.
The field trip is part of the English Access Microscholarship Program (Access) sponsored by the US Embassy in Vietnam. The TVU School of Foreign Languages (TVU SFL) has been selected to collaborate with the US Embassy to run this English language training scholarship.
Participants of the Access program are selected 13-20 year-old students of social-economic disadvantaged backgrounds. The primary goal of this program is to provide participants with English language skills that may help them to have better opportunities for job seeking and better learning.
Mr. Khau Hoang Anh, Deputy Head of TVU English department, said: “As a part of our English training syllabus to the Access Program participants, these informal learning activities aimed to provide these high school students with real life English practice outside the classroom, more importantly, to make them realize that learning is fun.”
Throughout the field trip on the last Sunday morning at the TVU Coffee Club in Campus 1, participants enjoyed speaking with SFL lecturers of Canadian and American origins. They also participated in a wide range of activities designed to stimulate their English speaking skill in authentic situations such as interviewing foreigners, ordering food and drinks, drawing and expressing their dreams in English.
Teen Nguyen Le Duc Duy said: “ We want to build a green planet. Many trees on it. People can live in peace.”
This is one of the extra curriculum activities carried out by the SFL staff to optimize the benefits of field trip to language learners.
